Bedtime stories rooted in India. Personalized for your child.
Every night, your child becomes the hero of a story from Indian mythology — alongside Hanuman, Krishna, Arjuna, and Ganesha. Their name. Their world. Their adventure.
You grew up hearing these stories. From your grandmother, your parents, your family. The Ramayana at bedtime. Krishna's butter adventures. Ganesha's wisdom. These stories shaped who you are.
But now you're raising a child thousands of miles away from where those stories live. Between work and school runs and bedtime routines, there's no time to retell them the way they were told to you.
Once Upon Bharat brings those stories home. Not as a textbook. Not as a lecture. As beautiful, personal bedtime adventures — with your child at the centre of every one.
Name, age, personality, favourite things. We weave these into every story so it feels uniquely theirs.
A personalized 3–5 minute bedtime tale from Indian mythology, straight to your inbox. Ready to read.
Cozy up and travel to ancient India together. They'll hear their name alongside Hanuman, Krishna, and Draupadi.
"My daughter heard her own name in a story with Ganesha and her eyes went wide. She asked me to read it again immediately. And then again. Three times before she fell asleep."
"We've been looking for a way to share Indian stories with our son but didn't know where to start. This made it so easy — and he actually loves it. He talks about Hanuman at breakfast now."
"I got emotional reading the first story. It mentioned Nani — that's what my daughter calls my mother. It felt like it was written by someone who knows our family."
A long, long time ago, in a land full of rivers and flowers and mountains that touched the sky, there lived a little boy named Ganesha.
Ganesha had the head of an elephant. Big, soft ears. A long, curly trunk. And the kindest eyes you have ever seen.
Do you know what Ganesha loved most in the whole world?
Dancing.
Just like Aanya.
Every evening, when the sky turned pink and orange, Ganesha would dance. He would wiggle his big ears. He would sway his trunk from side to side. He would stomp his feet — BOOM, BOOM, BOOM — and all the animals in the forest would come to watch.
The monkeys would clap. The peacocks would spin. The little fish in the river would splash — just like when Aanya goes swimming.
One day, Ganesha was sitting by the river, painting. Yes — Ganesha loved to paint, just like Aanya does. He was painting the sunset. Orange and pink and gold, all mixed together, swirling on the paper like magic.
But then he heard a small sound.
"Help... help..."
It was tiny. So tiny that only someone very gentle and very thoughtful — like Aanya — would have heard it.
Ganesha looked down. There, at the edge of the river, was a little mouse. She was stuck between two big rocks, and the water was rising.
"Don't worry," said Ganesha. "I will help you."
He reached down with his long, soft trunk and very, very gently — as gently as Aanya holds Kiki — he lifted the little mouse out of the water and set her on a warm, dry rock.
The mouse looked up at Ganesha with big, shiny eyes.
"Thank you," she whispered. "You are the kindest elephant in the whole world. My name is Mushika. Can I stay with you?"
Ganesha smiled his big, warm smile. "Of course you can."
And from that day on, Ganesha and Mushika were best friends. Everywhere Ganesha went, Mushika went too — sitting right on top of his head, between his big soft ears.
They danced together in the evenings. They painted together by the river. And sometimes, when the stars came out and the world got very quiet, Mushika would curl up on Ganesha's trunk and they would listen to the river sing them to sleep.
Just like Aanya and Kiki. Together. Always.
Nani says that if you listen very carefully on a quiet night, you can still hear Ganesha dancing somewhere far away. Stomp, stomp, stomp. And if you close your eyes, maybe — just maybe — you can dance with him too.
Goodnight, Aanya. Ganesha is watching over you tonight. 🌙
